Further adventures in test knitting!

Ardent readers may remember I test knitted a shawl for the wonderful Quirky hand knits some time ago – see previous posts here, here and here.

It was such a fun experience, I have decided to do it again!

This time for the rather lovely Kelene Kinnersley (Knitwitmee on IG) check out her gorgeous website here. Kelene lives in Ontario, Canada and took up knitting and knitwear design after a chronic illness, and basically hasn’t looked back! Not dissimilar to my introduction to the craft which saw me pick up the needles and yarn after being made redundant.

Kelene happened to mention on her IG feed that she was looking for test knitters for a new lace pattern cowl that she had designed. Now, this was right up my street, I love lace shawls, but the practicality of a cowl is not lost on me, therefore this seemed like the perfect combination. Any excuse to buy more yarn, right?

Off it popped to Etsy to browse the myriad of beautiful yarn dyers to find what I was looking for, something with blue hues, a bit of speckle, 400m in 4ply.

Ta da! Let me introduce to you Marcilly 4ply by Little French Meadow in colourway ‘Ants spoiling the picnic’! With a name like that, how could I refuse!! You can purchase it from their Etsy site on various bases…here.

I contacted Yola and Alison and explained that I wanted the yarn ASAP as it was for a test knit, they dually posted it first class and it arrived by the weekend! Awesome, right?

But not only that, it came complete with a little ‘Thank you’ stitch marker and a herbal tea bag! Things were looking very promising!

Within minutes of it dropping on to the doormat, I enlisted the help of my chief yarn winder (Mini-thimble, age 7 1/2) and created this lovely cake of squishiness!

So, a couple of days in and I am approaching the end of section A and so far, it is lovely yarn and a super pattern…

What has made this knit even better is the arrival of yet more free tea this morning from the generous people at Twinings! More info on that next time…

Thanks for popping by

Love Happy Thimble xxx
